Kirchheim, October 22, 2024 – genua's latest, Kubernetes-based Secure E-Mail Gateway reliably protects company networks from spam, phishing, viruses and malicious-software attacks. Part of the Bundesdruckerei Group, the German IT security specialist has equipped genumail with advanced mechanisms for detecting anomalies and patterns such as suspicious sender addresses, links and attachments. genumail supports SMTP-based mail servers and can be easily integrated into existing environments – allowing companies to reliably secure their trusted communication channel with e-mail protection "Made in Germany". genua will be presenting genumail at the leading IT security trade fair it-sa at booth 235 in hall 9. The trade fair will be taking place from October 22 to October 24, 2024, in Nuremberg.
genumail Disables Main Vector For Attacks on Company Networks
Companies' e-mail communications are one of the main vectors for attacks on company networks. While spam e-mails are mostly just irritating, computer viruses sent as e-mail attachments, links to infected websites, and phishing attacks can lead to security breaches, data loss or identity theft. This can have far-reaching and often serious consequences for companies. Therefore, having secure and easy-to-use protection against e-mail-based cyber threats is essential for companies.
This is especially true as the threat from e-mail attacks is currently growing rather than shrinking. For example, cyber criminals are using artificial intelligence to generate tailored phishing e-mails that seem entirely authentic to the recipient. In addition, it is difficult for users to identify the typical signs of a phishing e-mail when they access their inbox via a cell phone. Moreover, perpetrators no longer need extensive IT knowledge because there are dedicated service providers offering software for attacks, for example as "ransomware as a service."
E-Mail Security "Made in Germany"
This is where the new Secure E-Mail Gateway genumail from genua creates security. It uses advanced security mechanisms to analyze incoming e-mails, detecting suspicious patterns and irregularities such as falsified sender addresses, suspicious links and fake attachments. As genumail always has access to up-to-date information on the threat situation, the Gateway can reliably defend against attacks. For this purpose, genua works with proven providers that provide highly up-to-date data on subjects such as bad mail servers, malicious software, phishing, trackers and spam.
"With our Gateway Solution genumail, we offer companies a holistic e-mail security strategy that reliably protects against attacks via e-mail, requires little operational effort and can be scaled flexibly and automatically via the Kubernetes platform. All of the protective functions work in the background without impacting day-to-day business activities," says Thomas Lippert, Product Owner Cloud-Based Security Products at genua. "And, as always with genua, this comes with quality "Made in Germany.""
Holistic Security Strategy
As the first line of defense against cyber threats, genumail supports SMTP-based mail servers such as Microsoft Exchange, Exchange Online (Office 365) and Google Workspace.
For the analysis, it uses the latest technologies, such as block- and graylisting, SPF (sender policy framework), DKIM (domain keys identified mail), and DMARC (domain-based message authentication, reporting and conformance). In this way, the Secure E-Mail Gateway defends against spam, sender spoofing, and phishing and malicious-software attacks. The Gateway is suited for a variety of customers, for example those in the public or enterprise sector or in a critical infrastructure.
High Usability And Transparency
genumail isolates potentially harmful e-mail content using its integrated quarantine function. Recipients can mark these messages as spam or request their release. No technical knowledge is required for this. Thus, users are protected against possible attacks and can rely on their e-mail communications running smoothly.
During operation, genumail logs events such as e-mail access, blocked threats and the measures taken, for example the quarantining of e-mails. In this way, genumail assists with the performance of audits and the implementation of compliance requirements. The logs generated can be used for forensic analysis or to optimize the company's security guidelines. In addition, all genumail operations are monitored via monitoring interfaces.
